Michelle Dean
25 years with RJ Group, Branch Manager Swanley
What did you do before joining the Group?
In 1989 I left school and went to be an office junior for an Estate Agents in Welling. After a few years, a senior staff member asked if I wanted to join them to open a Robinson Jackson branch in Dartford. I grabbed this brilliant opportunity and in 1994 the office opened. I have worked up through the ranks as the group have expanded, and currently run the Swanley branch as a Senior Manager.
Have you got any local connections to your branch/area?
I have always lived locally to where I work so know the town and villages very well.
What attracted you to estate agency?
Every day was always very different, helping people for 6 months (start to finish) was complete job satisfaction. Making a difference in people’s lives. This led me to become part of the sales team.
How have you been mentored or supported in your career?
Working from the bottom up, I have gained experience in all avenues, so I fully understand each step of the way. Training has always been in-house and we constantly share ideas, particularly between the local sister offices where I’m working alongside excellent managers.
What are your ambitions for the future?
The natural progression would be to become the first female Branch Partner of the company.
What do you like most about working at the Group?
Comradery and passion amongst the group; we work hard and play hard.
Finally, any advice for those considering a career in estate agency?
Enjoy helping people – whilst the hours are long the job is very rewarding. Making dreams happen is the ultimate job satisfaction!
