Friends Help Us to Smash Charity Target
Friday 27th September saw us join forces in the "World's Biggest Coffee Morning" for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We each took a break from our busy day and invited friends and family in to catch up over a cuppa and a cake in aid of the worthwhile charity. Every member of staff threw themselves into support of the fundraising event by spending their free time creating tasty treats or buying something to bring along, and every branch decorated a table with delicious goodies to share at their own coffee morning.
Donations were kick-started with a generous £50 from the managing partners across the branches and departments and topped up by staff, friends and family, totalling just under £2,300! Macmillan Cancer Support will put this money towards physical, emotional and financial support to local people living with cancer.
There was such an incredible level of entries into “The Great Robinson Jackson Group Bake Off” to raise money for the event that company co-founder Peter Jackson was brought in to make the final judgement, and even he couldn’t pick a stand-alone winner. Amongst a delicious-looking selection of cakes, cookies, cascading 3D designs and various goodies branded with our logo, Natalie Coomber from Rainham presented a stunning Robinson Jackson Group-branded cake adorned with hand-made decorations of our swift logo and Janet Smith from Sydenham Sales baked a replica of her branch, complete with window cards! Both were surprised with a “Tea for Two” voucher at the Ritz courtesy of Peter and his partner Alan Robinson, who were so impressed with the general level of participation.
In Alan’s words, they were “genuinely choked and full of pride… our workmates are so special and our admiration for them joining in the spirit of the day is truly knockout. We applaud each and every person and thank them so much. Giving is a wonderful thing and when all of us participate in some way it becomes very special”.
Whether it was baked or faked we are absolutely blown away by the huge effort made by all of our generous staff to take part in such worthy event and thank our family and friends for joining in to support and raise awareness for the charity.
